The use of absorbable thread for collagen bio-stimulation and aging regression
Main Article Content
Abstract
The search for aesthetic care with the aim of repressing the signs of skin aging has been increasing over time. The use of absorbable threads for collagen biostimulation and consequent reduction of fine lines and wrinkles has proven to be a safe and effective method for rejuvenation and facial lifting. Thus, this article aims to describe the collagen biostimulation mechanisms by absorbable threads and demonstrate the effectiveness of aging regression after using this technique and the level of safety it presents. This study is a narrative literature review. The results showed that the use of absorbable PDO, PLLA and PCL threads was effective for the treatment of facial flaccidity, jaw volume and nasolabial folds, resulting in facial rejuvenation. Some intercurrences may occur, although rare, such as edema, hematoma, wire extrusion and skin irregularities. The critical factor associated with the subject is the appropriate selection of the patient, being a safe and effective technique if performed with the proper biosafety standards and in the correct dermal plane.
